LMFT’s 2nd Annual Lachlan’s Light the Night Event

November 20, 2016@1:00 pm-6:00 pm

The Lachlan McIntosh Tannery Foundation will be hosting its second annual Lachlan’s Light the Night Event on Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 1-6 p.m. at Norton-Thompson Park in downtown Seneca.  The free event was designed as a “thank you” to the upstate community for their support of the foundation, named in memory of two year old Lachlan Tannery, but also as a way to promote awareness for Be the Match, which is the National Marrow Donor Registry.

“Be the Match was a vital part of Lachlan’s story. Because he received a bone marrow transplant from a complete stranger, we were all given the gift of a little more time with him. There’s no way to put a price on something like that,” said Beth Winkler, Vice President of the foundation.

The Lachlan’s Light the Night event will be free admission, thanks to funding from an $8,900 grant that was approved by the City of Seneca’s Accommodations Tax Committee in the spring.  The event will feature lots of fun and games for the family, including bounce houses and tractor hayrides as well as live music from Spencer Rush, Chris Branch and Adam Carter.  The event was designed to feature many of Lachlan’s favorite things—tractors, fire trucks, etc..  Additionally, Santa Claus himself will also be making a special appearance from 4-6.

There will be food for purchase from food trucks and several of the downtown restaurants will be open during the event. Additionally, the Blood Connection will be onsite for blood donations and the Clemson University Be the Match group will have a tent set up to educate and help sign people up for the bone marrow registry in Lachlan’s memory.

For the second year, Lachlan’s bone marrow donor, Joey Marron, will also be in attendance. Joey and his family will be making a special trip from California for this not-to-be-missed event.

“This is sure to be an amazing afternoon for the upstate community—full of all kinds of fun for all ages. We are extremely thankful for the City of Seneca ATAX committee’s grant that allows us to be able to put on such a great thing that will not only help us raise awareness for our cause, but also bring business into the beautiful downtown area of Seneca,” said Meg Bishop, secretary for the LMTF.

Please make plans to join the foundation for this special event!

Norton-Thompson Park is located at 300 Main St. in Seneca, SC.

We’ll leave you with the highlights video from Lachlan’s Light the Night 2015, created and produced by Jay Wayne Productions. Enjoy!

Recording Artist EmiSunshine to Headline LLTN 2016

The Lachlan McIntosh Tannery Foundation is proud to welcome recording artist EmiSunshine to Seneca, SC, for the 2nd Annual Lachlan’s Light the Night Event on November 20.

East Tennessee native EmiSunshine gained national attention at the age of nine when a video of her singing Jimmie Rodgers “Blue Yodel No. 6” at a local flea market went viral. That exposure led to an appearance on the Today Show, followed by touring engagements from coast to coast, as well as half-a-million followers on Facebook. Emi and her family band have performed on the Grand Ole Opry multiple times and have opened concerts for Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson and Jason Isbell, just to name a few. She’s also a veteran of national music festivals like Austin City Limits, MerleFest, Stagecoach and Marty Stuarts’ Late Night Jam. A fourth generation musician, Emi first sang in public at a friend’s wedding at the age of four, and now at age 12, she just released her fourth album, “American Dream,” continues to tour the country, and you may have seen her in a national TV commercial for Facebook Live which debuted during the CMA’s earlier this week.

Lachlan’s Light the Night is a free admission event and is funded by a grant received by the foundation from the City of Seneca earlier this year. The event was designed as a thank you to the upstate South Carolina community for their continued support of our mission and also to raise awareness for Be the Match, the National Marrow Donor Registry.

EmiSunshine and her band, The Rain, will take the stage around 4:45 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and prepare to be blown away by this explosive talent.

Other artists for this year’s event include local stars LC Branch, Spencer Rush and Adam Carter.

Lachlan’s Light the Night 2016: The Need to Know

As we get ready for what’s sure to be a great event this weekend, we thought we’d post a few helpful things for you. Please click below to enlarge each. We look forward to lighting the night with you on Sunday. In the meantime, we’ll be posting each day until then to highlight different people who will be there!

Four Days Until Lachlan’s Light the Night!

We are 4 days away from The Lachlan McIntosh Tannery Foundation’s 2nd Annual Lachlan’s Light the Night and we are so excited to see you all again! This event was created to bring awareness to Be the Match and register donors that might not be on the national marrow registry. This is also our opportunity to thank our community that has so graciously supported our cause from the beginning. We cannot thank you all enough for your love!

If you were at last year’s event, you might see some familiar faces this year. Jay Dee Productions will be back creating whatever balloon art you can imagine. We love Jay Dee! Joining in the fun this year, we welcome Mr. Twister and Buttons the Clown. Mr. Twister brings the art of face paint to the scene and some fun balloon animals as well. Buttons is a true work of art. Specializing in magic and balloon art, it’s sure to be a good time!

Our friends at Carolina Bounce will also be back with the bouncy houses- always guaranteed fun.

We are grateful to the Seneca Police Department and the Seneca Fire Department for joining us with their cars and trucks- all of which were some of Lachlan’s favorite things.

We are very excited to have an extra special guest this year. Santa himself will be joining us for photos from 4-6pm right next to our very own “Whoville” provided by Unlimited Talent Dance Studio. “Whoville” and all its reindeer will be open from 1-4pm. Please note that Santa photos this year will have a very special photographer–you! That’s right…no professional photographer; we’ll provide the beautiful backdrop and Mr. Claus himself, and you can snap away with your own camera or phone. Enjoy the fun sights and sounds of Christmas this Sunday! Thank you, Santa, for spending time with us during the busiest season of the year! Be sure to bring your Christmas wish list. ‘Tis the season!

We will be highlighting our special guests and vendors the rest of the week as we count down to our favorite day of the year! We hope you will plan to join us Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Norton-Thompson Park in Downtown Seneca, SC from 1-6pm. We’ll see you there!

#LLTN2016: Focus on FOOD

We are always so excited to host some of our favorite fellow foodies. Funnel cakes, deep fried Oreos, corn dogs, and fresh squeezed lemonade- these are a few of our favorite things!  Food will be available for purchase from several of our favorite local vendors.

We welcome back Roadrunner Enterprises, a local favorite, serving up all your fair favorites. Also joining us again is our local Quality Coffee serving the best hot chocolate and coffee. These drinks are sure to keep you warm on Sunday afternoon!

We are excited to introduce our friend, The Pound Cake Man, to you all! Yes, you heard us right, THE Pound Cake Man straight out of Clemson, SC. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate this special event than with cake! We’ve heard the banana pudding pound cake will in fact make you go bananas- only time will tell.

Bringing a Philly favorite to the event, we introduce Steph’s Steaks. Steph might be a familiar face as she serves up her Philly cheesesteak goodness all over the area at local fairs and events. We can’t wait to see you, Steph!

Right down the street from the park, our friends at The Spot on the Alley and The Ram Cat Social House will be open for business, serving their very own “Lachlan Special.” Proceeds from these special treats will be donated to The Lachlan McIntosh Tannery Foundation.

Not to be forgotten, we will also be serving free cotton candy and popcorn at the event- a favorite for all. We think it’s safe to say our bellies {and our hearts} will be full Sunday. We’ll see you there!

Musician Line-Up for Lachlan’s Light the Night

Get your blankets and lawn chairs out because you’re going to want to sit and enjoy the musical lineup we have planned for Sunday, which is just TWO DAYS away!

The past couple of days we have offered a sneak peek into all the food and fun at this year’s event but we are also eager to tell you about the musical talent that will be joining us Sunday. Don’t forget that the admission is free, thanks to the grant we received from the City of Seneca.

Some of the voices on stage might be familiar from last year and we are thrilled to have them back! They’re all well known from the various venues they play across the upstate and the southeast. And one guest is brand new to Seneca, and is a name {and voice} you won’t forget.

We can’t wait to have one of our very own back this year. Joining us from 1:20-2:10pm, LC Branch brings his talent to the stage. Chris is a local, Seneca, SC, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His soulful, bluesy spin will certainly win the hearts of those who’ve never seen him perform and is guaranteed to be loved by his faithful fans.

Also joining us again this year from 2:20-3:20pm is Greenville’s own Spencer Rush. Spencer is incredibly talented as he adds an edgy and unique sound to some of our favorite songs by some of his favorite musical influences. We’re certain you’re gonna love him.

Additionally, we are excited to introduce a local favorite, Adam Carter, hitting the stage from 3:20-4:10pm. A native of Westminster, SC, Adam discovered his love of music at the young age of seven. Paired with a voice you won’t forget comes his talent on the guitar. He has been spotted on stages with a few of our favorite country music legends- Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, and Loretta Lynn to name a few.

And last but not least, headlining The 2nd Annual Lachlan’s Light the Night, we bring to the stage Tennessee’s very own EmiSunshine. If you haven’t had the opportunity to hear this explosive talent, you’re in for a real treat! Although just 12 years old, EmiSunshine is no newcomer to the music industry. She began performing in church as soon as she was able to walk down the aisle and she has graced numerous festivals and theatres with her incredible talent and is no stranger to some of Nashville’s most esteemed venues–The Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium. She recently opened for and performed with Loretta Lynn and has also opened for other well known artists, including Jason Isbell and Willie Nelson. You may have seen her on TV on a Facebook Live feature during the 50th Annual CMA Awards just a couple of weeks ago.

Not only does she bring an authentic, folksy voice to the stage, she’s instrumentally talented as well, having learned to play the ukulele at the age of 7. She’s beautiful, she’s talented, and the girl can sing! Join us Sunday evening as EmiSunshine and her family band, The Rain, wrap up this year’s event, taking the stage from 4:45-6pm.

We’ll let you in on one more thing–her last song will be a very special one that the audience will sing a long with as we light the night with our luminaries. You don’t want to miss this!

Only One More Day!

We are ONE DAY away from our favorite day of the year! TOMORROW we will host The 2nd Annual Lachlan’s Light the Night from 1-6pm in downtown Seneca, SC and we can’t wait to see you there.

We’ve mentioned how important this event is not only for the foundation to be able to say “thank you” to our awesome community but to also bring awareness to our cause by registering potential bone marrow donors with Be the Match. Not long after the foundation was born, the students at Clemson University became very involved with what we were doing and they were willing to help any way possible. Soon after, a campus Be the Match group was formed to continue spreading the importance of being on the national registry to potentially be a lifesaving match for a patient in need. We are very grateful for organizations like Be the Match for finding Lachlan’s donor, Joey, who will be joining us again this year (YAY!!!) and for providing matches to for patients nationwide. Tomorrow, the Be the Match Clemson Campus group will be joining us. They will be able to answer any questions that you might have and can get you registered if you wish- it only requires a few mouth swabs. To show you just how easy it is, we’ll be doing a LIVE SWAB on our Facebook page tomorrow. We hope that you will consider joining the national marrow donor registry if you haven’t already. What better gift to give this holiday season?

This link will take you the events page with all of the need-to-know details for tomorrow, including the schedule and event map. We can’t wait to see you all.
